Gâc is a bright-red fruit that grows as large as a cantaloupe and abundantly on vines all over sub-tropical Asia, especially in Vietnam. A fountain of antioxidants, as recent research unveiled, this fruit is grown in home gardens and valued for its medicinal potentials. In Asian households, the red oily pulp is often cooked with rice. The bright red color generates the visual effect that represents good luck and joy.

img1. What is gac?
Gac (Momordica Cochinchinensis Spreng) is a tropical fruit found in Vietnam and other regions of Southeast Asia where it is valued for many important health benefits. It is esteemed as the “fruit from heaven” and is prized for its ability to promote longevity, vitality, and health*. Unknown to indigenous folks, gac is a fountain of antioxidants, as recent research unveiled.

This bright-red fruit grows abundantly on vines and is as large as a cantaloupe. Traditionally, the red oily pulp is cooked with rice and served during special festivities such as weddings. The bright red color generates the desired visual effect that represents good luck and joy.

2. What are gac’s benefits?
Science has demonstrated that beta-carotene, lycopene and other potent antioxidants found in gac fruit help support strong cellular rejuvenation throughout the body*.

Gac is a premier source of carotenoids which are in a highly bio-available form to support healthy skin and the body’s own defense mechanisms from free radicals*.

3. How is RedGac different from other exotic fruit supplements, such as noni, mangosteen and acai?
RedGac is an oil, not a juice. There a big difference. Because it is an oil, RedGac both supplies and delivers to the body of the high natural levels of antioxidants. Gac is an natural source of beta-carotene, lycopene, and long-chain fatty acids, and the fat in the fruit pulp is essential for the absorption of those fat soluble nutrients. Fat soluble nutrient digestion is assisted by natural fruit oils.

In order for nutrients to be absorbed by the human digestive system, they must bind with fat molecules. According to Dr. Steven Shwartz of Ohio State University, "many fruits and vegetables are rich in beneficial carotenoids, but most are virtually fat free, which may limit the body's ability to absorb some of these nutrients."

4. What are the merits of gac fruit?
Gac’s seedpod chambers hold the power of this amazing tropic fruit. Its vibrant red and orange colors indicate that it has a high concentration of powerful antioxidants called carotenoids – specifically beta-carotene and lycopene.

Not only does nature give gac a generous supply of these carotenoids, the fruit also has a high level of absorbability because of its fat content. Not all fat are bad because your body needs it to absorb nutrients found in fruits and vegetables. While most fruits do not have enough fat content to aid in the delivery of nutrients, gac fruit oil supplies and delivers to the body significant levels of antioxidants*.

5. What are antioxidants and why are they important?
Your body’s individual cells need protection from free-radicals (which are unstable molecules that try to become stabilized by taking electrons away from other stable molecules). This results in what is called oxidation, which is similar to what happens to metal when exposed to air. Oxidative stress occurs for example when your body gets exposed to the sun or other environmental factors, leading to degenerative conditions.

Antioxidants donate their electrons to unstable free-radicals (giving them back their stability) without causing any damages to themselves. When your body uses antioxidants (from the food you eat for example), it keeps free-radicals under control.

6. What are the benefits of carotenoids and specifically beta carotene found in gac?
Beta-carotene is a carotenoid antioxidant found in Gac. It helps boost your immune system and support the structural integrity of the tissues*. Carotenoids, as plant pigments, function as protection of the plant against excess light. Their nutritional value is especially important to your skin*. The richest sources of natural Beta-carotene (as opposed to synthetic Beta-carotene) are found in yellow, orange, and green leafy fruits and vegetables. In general, the greater the intensity of the color of the fruit or vegetable, the more beta-carotene it contains. Gac contains as much as 10 times more Beta-carotene than carrots.

7. What are the benefits of the carotenoid lycopene found in gac?
Carotenoids are antioxidants found in bright red, orange, or yellow fruits and vegetables. Lycopene is a carotenoid that imparts the vibrant red color to fruits and vegetables like tomatoes, pink grapefruit and watermelon. Gac is a premier source of carotenoids, especially lycopene. Total lycopene concentration in the ripest fruit can produce more than 70 times the amount of lycopene found in commercial tomato.

8. What are fatty acids found in gac and why are they important?
Lipocarotenes are fatty acids found in gac. This mixture of unsaturated, saturated, polyunsaturated, and monounsaturated fatty acids assist in the absorption of nutrients present in gac fruit, making them highly bio-available*.
